‌Video: Stay Active and Engaged with Campus Recreation Events and Activities

‌Elevating student success is a pillar of our Hopes & Aspirations High vision for the future of TXST. We know health and mental well-being are integral to students thriving, and Campus Recreation offers tremendous benefits for our campus communities. Although a hilly walk to class can be considered a workout on the San Marcos Campus, our Campus Recreation provides exceptional facilities and programming to support a culture of physical fitness and exercise not only for students, but for faculty and staff members. In this month’s Current video, I learned about all the great events and activities they offer on both campuses. 

My Top Ten Moments

From highlighting 20 years of the McCoy Foundation to celebrating Black History Month at the annual Soul Food Dinner and researching historic rock art, February offered many opportunities to explore what makes TXST so special. Check out a few of my top moments this month.

‌Mission Moment

In exciting enrollment news, we set several new records for the spring 2024 semester, led by a record 31,704 undergraduate students. That’s a 3% increase over the previous year and brings our total enrollment to 35,378 students this semester. We are encouraged by these numbers and remain on track to top our 2016 enrollment record of 38,940.

One of the most impressive numbers of the spring semester is a persistence rate of 93.3% for first-time college students. A few other notable enrollment records include our international student base increasing 43% to 1,030 students and 528 students pursuing their doctorates, a 16% increase from 2023.

Enrollment at our Round Rock Campus saw a notable 7.6% increase, bringing the total number of students to 1,809. We also just introduced 11 new academic programs launching this fall semester in Round Rock. From computer information systems to psychology and criminal justice, these programs were strategically selected to meet the workforce needs in the Central Texas area.

‌This year, TXST will kick off the university’s 125th anniversary celebration on May 10th, our official Founders Day. From Spring commencement ceremonies in May through Fall commencement in December, we will mark TXST’s steadfast commitment to “Build the Legacy of Tomorrow.”

As we continue to see enrollment growth and record attendance at Bobcat Days for prospective students, we are witnessing that legacy in action. From the beginning, building a better tomorrow has been our guiding star. As we celebrate 125 years, we continue to not just look to the future, but work to make it shine brighter.
