My Top Ten Moments

We welcomed a record-breaking freshman class for the third year in a row. Gathering with thousands of freshmen for our first-ever Jumpstart event was a thrill I’ll never forget, and definitely one of my Top Ten Favorite Moments. I’m especially proud to share that for the first time in TXST history, Texas State was number one among Texas universities in freshman applications submitted through “Apply Texas” for Fall 2023.  

Mission Moment

We are celebrating milestones left and right. With historic research expenditures, renewed focus on enrollment at our Round Rock Campus, and new efforts to grow the TXST brand worldwide, my leadership team had a lot to report at the State of TXST. Here are some key takeaways: 

• This year, research expenditures topped $140 million from federal agencies, the state government, private industries, and institutional investments from TXST.
• The launch of the TXST Global division has already boosted international recruitment. International freshman enrollment is up 42% and overall international student enrollment is up 29%.
• To better serve the 45% of our students who are the first in their family to attend college, we are expanding the team that supports first-generation student initiatives.
• To help us intervene before a student gets on academic probation, we are proactively identifying students in the first five weeks who are trending toward academic difficulties.
